Can we make a new fairy tale live on radio?
Every Little Birds knows that, once you know what makes a good story, it's easy to make up a great brand new one very quickly... But could it be done in the space of a song?!
That's what Chip, David and the listeners of BBC Radio Solent are going to find out when our "Crazy Bird Tour" arrives on the Katie Martin Show on Thursday 26th July!
For the first hour of the programme, listeners will be invited to send in their suggestions for objects to appear in a brand new fairy tale. When Chip and David come on air at 2:30pm, they will be told the suggestions for the first time live (and there can't be any sneak peeking, either, because our storytellers will actually be speaking from a studio at BBC Birmingham!). They will then have just one song to turn all the suggestions into a fairy tale of no more than 5min.
The radio spot is all part of our plan to visit local venues (village halls, community centres and school halls) over just two weeks at the start of the summer holidays. We kick off in Cumbria on Tuesday 24th July, and will perform at the Winchester Discovery Centre on Sunday 29th July. Our two venues in Dorset are St Andrew's Village Hall (Milbourne) and Broadmayne Village Hall, both of which we'll be visiting on Thursday 2nd August.
