Little Birds foretell dog's role in hunt for murderer...

Two Little Birds from Fulbridge Primary School in Peterborough were proudly presenting their original story to parents, friends and teachers last Wednesday 20 May. Their story had been a whole week in the making. But little did they realise that, as they rehearsed the night before, their tale was starting to come true...

Police in Herefordshire received a call from a house in Withington, in which all they could hear was some panicked wimpering, and an angry voice calling out, "Come out or else! I'm warning you..."

No matter how much the police tried to get answers, the 999-caller was obviously too afraid to speak. So they rushed to trace the call and send a unit to the house within minutes, fully prepared to have a murder on their hands.

If only they had received the opportunity to hear our Little Birds' story beforehand. The two Fulbridge pupils crafted the clever story of a witch who enjoyed practicing her magic, until one day she took a nap - only to find her dog had run off to use her magic wand as a chew toy!

And just as the fictional pup had caused some accidental magical mishaps, so too had a Herefordshire hound taken the household phone into his mouth and inadvertantly dialled 999 while his owner desperately tried to retrieve it.

The story just goes to show how art can imitate life! Click here for Sky News' reporting of the real-life misadventure.
