Little Birds - the most comprehensive story-making workshops currently available for schools

Little Birds is the most comprehensive, cost-effective artist-in-residence programme available, delivered by a storyteller with verifiable experience - and the John Thaw Foundation and the Arts Council have enabled your school to enjoy it for less than the cost of one day's visit by an author! Your whole school can receive:

Workshop Programme

Little Birds - the most comprehensive story-making workshops currently available for schools

A programme consists of five 60min workshops spread over one week. At our most basic package, up to 30 children can take part from years 2 to 6. More children can take part, but many schools feel one workshop programme is sufficient. Click here for examples of how schools have selected their 30 children in the past.

Participating children get to develop an awareness of storytelling culture from across the world, identify what makes stories exciting, and ultimately use their own creative play to make tomorrow's fairy tales!

The programme sees the storyteller returning for an hour each day from Monday to Friday, so your children start to look forward to each new step in their exploration of story and are eager to learn.

Help a class with writing, encourage reluctant readers, support your gifted & talented, a whole "Let's Write" week... our story-making workshops are suitable for so many uses!

INSET

The storyteller will also take 60 minutes afterschool to run an INSET "twilight session" with all your school's teachers (and, optionally, TAs) - whether they are working with the school's little birds or not. The session delivers practical tips for storytelling in the classroom, and opens up discussions of how to use Little Birds techniques across the curriculum - from history to maths...!
